It's bloody cold out there today in Chicago @7 degrees fahrenheit- that minus 13 celcius !!
As they say in England,it's cold enough to freeze the balls off a brass monkey !!
I'm very haapy to announce that we have been writing and rehearsing new material with a French horn. This is not an instrument one usually associates with jazz but we are lucky to have found an excellent player in Jessica Pearce. She really adds a lopt of sonic depth to the band.We will be recording some of the material soon I hope. In the mean time I have posted some rough demo to give a little taste of things to come.
The line up for the band is:
Shimon Marcucci soprano sax
James Davis trumpet, flugel horn
John Lauler bass
Rick Shandling drums
Jessica Pearce french horn
Ray Coyle vibes /composer
This album was recorded in true stereo by Ken Christianson using a Nagra tape machine .
There is no editing just the musicians playing straight into 2 carefully positioned mics .
Ray Coyle vibes
Jose Ormaza drums
Stew Pidd bass
